CLAAS is introducing several updates to its Lexion combine lineup for 2026, including the addition of a smaller model.
Speaking with RealAgriculture at the Western Canadian Crop Production Show at Saskatoon, Terry Siebert, regional product supervisor of CLAAS, says the company is expanding its portfolio by adding the Lexion 8500 as the new bottom-end machine. The updated lineup now includes the 8500, 8600, 8700, 8800, and 8900. Siebert says the new model broadens the range of options available heading into the 2026 season.
Engine changes are also part of the update. Siebert says the Lexion platform moves from Mercedes engines to MAN engines, with aftertreatment being the biggest difference between the two. Horsepower increases across the entire lineup as well, with a 50-horsepower step between each model. Siebert says these changes apply throughout the range, from the smallest to the largest machine.
Cab updates focus on operator comfort and functionality. Siebert says customer feedback plays a key role in the redesign, noting that “because the customers have a lot of time in the cab and they run their office in there basically… they need more places to put things.” The refreshed cab layout adds more storage and introduces Apple CarPlay, allowing operators to connect their phones like they would in a regular vehicle.
Siebert says CLAAS is also adding an engine blow-off kit that uses compressed air to help keep the engine and after-treatment area clean, reducing the need for maintenance. Feedback at the show is encouraging, Siebert says, adding that the “show’s been pretty positive,” even as growers navigate lower grain prices while looking ahead to spring.
