Updated CLAAS Lexion combines offer new engine and cab features

by

CLAAS is introducing several updates to its Lexion combine lineup for 2026, including the addition of a smaller model.

Speaking with RealAgriculture at the Western Canadian Crop Production Show at Saskatoon, Terry Siebert, regional product supervisor of CLAAS, says the company is expanding its portfolio by adding the Lexion 8500 as the new bottom-end machine. The updated lineup now includes the 8500, 8600, 8700, 8800, and 8900. Siebert says the new model broadens the range of options available heading into the 2026 season.

Engine changes are also part of the update. Siebert says the Lexion platform moves from Mercedes engines to MAN engines, with aftertreatment being the biggest difference between the two. Horsepower increases across the entire lineup as well, with a 50-horsepower step between each model. Siebert says these changes apply throughout the range, from the smallest to the largest machine.

Cab updates focus on operator comfort and functionality. Siebert says customer feedback plays a key role in the redesign, noting that “because the customers have a lot of time in the cab and they run their office in there basically… they need more places to put things.” The refreshed cab layout adds more storage and introduces Apple CarPlay, allowing operators to connect their phones like they would in a regular vehicle.

Siebert says CLAAS is also adding an engine blow-off kit that uses compressed air to help keep the engine and after-treatment area clean, reducing the need for maintenance. Feedback at the show is encouraging, Siebert says, adding that the “show’s been pretty positive,” even as growers navigate lower grain prices while looking ahead to spring.

Real Agriculture and I am at the Western Canadian Crop Production show today in Saskatoon getting to talk with Terry Siebert of Claws. Welcome, Terry, it's great to see you. Yes, pleased to meet you. So we're going to be talking about the new Lexion features coming up for 2026. Tell me a little bit about what's in the pipeline. So, to start off with Lexion, we've come out with a smaller model, adding one to our portfolio. So we now have an 8,500 as our bottom end model and then going up to the 8600, the 8700, the 8800 and the 8900. What are some of the performance differences between this engine? Yeah, so we have a Mercedes engine in our last year's platform, but they've changed to an man now. So the after treatment is the biggest difference between the two. Plus we have increased the horsepower in all of our model ranges so that we have a 50 horsepower difference in between each model. And tell me a little bit about the cab changes that are being made. So in the cab, because the customers have a lot of time in the cab and they run their office in there basically, so they need more places to put things. So we've got different cab layout and whatnot to keep knickknacks and whatnot that they have in the cab. Apple Carplay they've added too as well this year, so that's an added bonus feature so they can connect to their radio just like in a regular vehicle. Are there any other new features up and coming? Yes. So we have a engine blow off kit, so it's going to take compressed air from our engine air compressor and blow it across the engine in the after treatment to keep everything clean so we don't have to do any maintenance or anything in that area. Great. And what's the feedback been like at the show? Show's been pretty positive. You? Lots of, lots of good feedback. Everybody's pretty optimistic. Grain prices are low, so there's a little bit of a downturn in that. But everybody's still looking forward to spring and carrying on and hopefully everything bounces. Back getting out there in the field. Where can people go for more information? Terry, so you can come to our booth here and see us for our product specialists that we have, or you can go on to clauseofamerica.com and you can see all of our portfolio that we offer there. Wonderful. Well, thank you so much. And that was Terry Siebert on Real Agriculture. For the latest ag news, agronomic advice and more cheque out, RealAgriculture.com and RealAg Radio.
